Making Memories

As a former support worker for Mr. J, it has been a privilege to continue creating meaningful memories with him, even now as a friend. Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to join Mr. J and his support worker, Carole, on a trip to a caravan park in Poole—a destination that holds a special place in Mr. J’s heart.

These holidays, nestled close to the beach and bustling with boats, are everything Mr. J adores. His excitement was obvious when I arrived at Woodlea to accompany them on the journey. He greeted me with happy noises and signs of anticipation for the adventure ahead.

Setting Off

Our holiday began with a cheerful car ride and a stop for tea and cake—one of Mr. J’s favourite treats. Upon arriving at the caravan park, we unpacked and settled into our lodge. Naturally, Mr. J chose the room with a front-facing window. Watching the world go by from this vantage point is one of his simple pleasures. That evening, we shared fish and chips, a perfect start to our seaside getaway.

Fun in the Sun

The next day, re-energized and ready for adventure, we headed to the beach under bright sunshine. The icy waters didn’t deter Mr. J from dipping his feet into the sea. His enthusiasm for the cold paddle was infectious and brought smiles to all our faces.

Above the beach, a zip wire caught Mr. J’s attention. He was captivated, looking up eagerly every time someone whizzed by. His fascination was a joy to witness, reminding us how much he appreciates new and exciting experiences. We are now looking for a zipwire to support Mr. J to in the near future!

Packed with Activities

Our days were filled with activities tailored to Mr. J’s favourite things. We spent time in the arcades, enjoyed pub lunches, and even carved pumpkins to celebrate the season. Each moment was a testament to how holidays like this bring out the best in Mr. J, letting him explore, engage, and enjoy himself fully.

A Bittersweet Goodbye

Returning to Woodlea marked the end of our wonderful adventure. Saying goodbye to Mr. J was bittersweet, but I left with a heart full of gratitude for the time we shared. I trust Carich Care will organise more opportunities for us to reconnect and create more cherished memories together soon.

This trip was a beautiful reminder of the importance of fostering meaningful relationships and ensuring the individuals we care for continue to experience the joy and fulfilment they deserve. Here’s to many more adventures with Mr. J!
